A Kenyan doctor has reportedly been suspended after performing a brain surgery on the wrong patient.According to daily nation, this was one of the worst cases of medical malpractice to become public at Kenyatta Public Hospital.
The report said that two men went to hospital last weekend. One needed a surgery to remove blood clot in his brain, while the other only needed nursing and medication to heal trauma swelling in his head.
There ''was horror mix up'' which then lead to a wrong being wheeled into the theater and his skull open. The doctors only realized the mistake hours later when they discovered that there was no blood clot in the brain.
I think that the doctor should have not been suspended because he only did his job which is performing the surgery. The one to blame is the nurse who mixed up tags not the doctor.

the doctor should have double checked if he was performing the surgery to the right patient or not. I think he was careless.

ReplyDeleteThe nurse is the one to blame. She was so careless. The doctor did not know anything about patients only nurses do.
ReplyDeleteOperations are very severe , before the operation was done, the doctor should have checked the patients file
ReplyDeleteThe doctor didn't do anything. The nurse is the one that should have been suspended. File things are for the nurses!!!!
ReplyDeleteThe doctor has done nothing wrong, the one to be blamed is the nurse who numbered wrongly.
ReplyDeleteNurses are responsible for this and they must be disciplined.
